Country facts, are that Finland has over 1.8 million saunas... that's a sauna for every 3 people. We also find ourselves in the home of the Nokia Corporation.
An early morning flight heading North East from Stockholm over the Baltic Sea, took the team on the last leg of a very successful Sybase Nordic Roadshow, which in total as been attended by over 350 attendees. I have been able to Evangelise the Sybase Mobility Stack, the SAP/Sybase Mobility vision and iOS devices adoption into business, during the last 4 days.
Whilst I have been on this Roadshow I have also once again been successfully enjoying using my iPad to work whilst at the events, with the need to only charge it once.
Here are my thoughts on some of the Challenges to iPhone and iPad in the Enterprise...
- Management & Security of iOS Devices
- Deployment of Apps OTA to iOS Devices
- More standard business apps needed on the App Store
- More Custom built business applications needed and the ability to get data on and off of the iOS device
and Accelerators...
- iOS 4.2 for iPad coming in the next few weeks, will bring MDM to iPad
- New iOS Features of above, such as MDM, AirPrint to iPhone & iPad
- Developer Experience & success, bringing more custom built apps
- Sybase SQL Anywhere and the SAP UnWired Platform bringing enterprise ready ability to get data on and off of the iOS device
Some of today's attendees have even traveled from nearby Estonia to listen to the presentations. Again over half of the attendees in the mobility track had iPhone, and only one had an iPad. I get the feeling that once Apple finally releases the iPad in the Nordics, then there will be a lot sold.
Local attendance - 74+, over 35% attended Mobility
A big 'Thank you' to all the Nordic region for your hospitality, concentration and also to our great local events team for putting it together and making it happen.
